Following a public tender put out by the Norwegian company Hafslund Fjernvarme AS, Aalborg CSP A/S won the tender and on 18 June signed a contract for design and delivery of a tailor-made 100MW district heating boiler.

The boiler, which is to be tailor-made to fit into an existing building in Oslo, will be designed to burn both diesel and bio oil.

Haflund Fjernvarme AS is the biggest district heating company in Norway. At present, Haflund Fjernvarme AS produces about 1.4 billion kWt (1400GWt). This corresponds to the heating requirements of about 140,000 homes. With the present framework conditions, the aim is to be able to expand to obtain 2TWt - if the framework conditions are strengthened, there is the potential for obtaining close on 3TWt.

The boiler will be delivered in the first quarter of 2011.
