21-24 Feburay 2011 Aalborg CSP visited the island nation, the Maldives.

Aalborg CSP was part of the official Danish delegation at the unveiling of the first street, Copenhagen Avenue, at the Gulhi Falhu development project. President Mohamed Nasheed of the Maldives unveiled the street together with the Danish Ambassador of the Maldives, Freddy Svane.

Aalborg CSP presented  the President and the Parliament with CSP solutions for the Gulhi Falhu island, where it is essential to produce electricity and drinking water in a climate-friendly way.

The Gulhi Falhu development project

Due to Malé's extremely high population density and the fast growing development of the country, there is an great need for more land at the Maldives. For that reason, an artificial island is being made at the Gulhi Falhu reef about 3km from Malé, the capital city of the Maldives.

The new island, also known as "Eye of the Maldives", is creating affordable housing, luxury housing, warehouses, a shopping mall, an international school, a hospital, leisure facilities, a golf course and a business complex.

At COP 15 in December 2009 in Copenhagen , the Government of Denmark, amongst others, offered to provide financial guarantee to the development project at the Maldives. The financial guarantee is to create a "green environment" using renewable energy solutions such as solar power.
