PTES is an important technology when it comes to energy storage, and it is a technology in which Aalborg CSP has extensive experience. That is why we are contributing to the European TREASURE project, which is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2.5 - Climate, Energy, and Mobility program, and is coordinated by AEE – Institute for Sustainable Technologies.
The project goal is to bridge the gap between research and practice:
- to ensure robust, safe, cost effective, and sustainable large-scale thermal energy storage.
- by developing secure and smart system integration concepts.
- by increasing the effectiveness of realizing pit thermal energy storage (PTES) technology in Europe.
Thus, resulting in demonstrating large-scale PTES capabilities as well as improving components, processes, and procedures for an accelerated renewable transition of district heating networks in Europe.
Aalborg CSP A/S is excited to be among the 23 European partners participating in the project and contributes with know-how and analyses, works on components, economics, materials, construction details, improvement of design and more, with a focus on our proven and patented PTES lid solution.
The TREASURE project will run until December 2027. Read more about the project here.
