WaterWarmth
Aquathermal energy for renewable heating and cooling
About WaterWarmth
WaterWarmth is an Interreg North Sea project, co-funded by the European Union, with partners across six countries in the North Sea region. The project develops and demonstrates aquathermal energy, using the warmth of rivers, lakes and the sea as a source for heating and cooling, and helps energy communities integrate it into their operations.
Duration
June 2023 – September 2026
The challenge
Rivers, lakes and the sea hold a largely untapped source of thermal energy. Aquathermal systems combined with water-source heat pumps can deliver efficient, renewable heating and cooling for communities close to water.
Our role
Aalborg CSP contributes to the development and demonstration of aquathermal energy systems, including water-source heat pumps and their integration into renewable heating supply.
