Hammam Soliman, Senior Sales and R&D Manager at Aalborg CSP is among the speakers at the 5th Annual Water and Energy Congress Week (WE Week) held in Sharjah (UAE), on the 10-12 February 2020.

Water scarcity is a global challenge with rapid population growth around the world. The United Arab Emirates is one of the most arid parts of the world with very little rainfall and low groundwater levels. At the same time, the country has one of the highest consumption rates of water per capita and is thus currently one of the top 10 most water-scarce countries in the world. In order to accommodate a rapidly increasing demand for water, the country is looking towards sustainable methods of water management.

The 5th Annual Water and Energy Congress Week (WE Week) address the key global goals on sustainable management of water and sanitation and gathers experts from around the world to discuss possible clean energy and water solutions.

Senior Sales and R&D Manager at Aalborg CSP, Hammam Soliman will introduce the audience to the combination of concentrated solar power (CSP) technology and desalination. With his presentation titled: “Efficient combination of Concentrated Solar Power and desalination for the GCC Region”, Mr. Soliman will demonstrate how combining solar-thermal and different water desalination technologies can contribute to solving water issues within the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) region. As part of his speech, he will introduce the audience to a revolutionary arid-farming plant, where an Integrated Energy System based on CSP technology that use sunlight and seawater to grow 17,000,000kg vegetables a year.

About the speaker

Mr. Hammam Soliman is Senior Sales and R&D Manager at Aalborg CSP, responsible for the planning and implementation of research programs with the aim to create the technologies of tomorrow. He is Aalborg CSP’s strong link to knowledge-based institutions and plays an instrumental role in establishing relationships with the Middle East and North Africa region.

Hammam holds an M.S. degree in Electrical and Control from the Arab Academy for Science & Technology in Cairo (Egypt) and earnt his Ph.D in Power Electronic Engineering from the highly ranked Aalborg Universitet (Denmark).
