POLYPHEM is a project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 program and is coordinated by CNRS in France. The

The project group consists of nine partners across Europe. The purpose of the project is to improve the performance of small-scale CSP plants as well as  their flexibility to generate power on demand using a solar-driven combined cycle with integrated thermal energy storage.

Aalborg CSP’s scope

Aalborg CSP’s role in the project is to design and supply the upper heat exchanger, which utilizes the waste energy in the micro-turbine exhaust gas to heat up hot thermal oil, which is then sent to an energy storage or an ORC machine. Moreover, Aalborg CSP will provide engineering support for the other project partners.
