Parabolic trough module solution - a green energy
source
The parabolic
trough module solution from Aalborg CSP applies parabolic
trough shaped mirrors to concentrate sunlight onto a receiver pipe
placed at the focus of the reflector. The concentration of energy
heats water flowing through the pipe. The heated water
evaporates into steam. The steam can be used directly as
process steam or in a steam turbine that drives an electrical
generator producing electricity. The mirrored troughs are tilted
towards the sun and are rotating to receive the full concentration
of sunlight every second of the day. The parabolic
trough system can supply power in the range of 250kWe - 10MWe.
The parabolic trough system is an industrial size
module solution. The parabolic trough module system can
be a stand-alone energy solution or be integrated in an existing
facility.
The output from the parabolic
trough system is hot water or steam and can be used directly
or in a variety of applications.
As a guideline the parabolic trough system
is suited for:
A customised energy solution
The number of troughs and size of
the solar field are customised according to the need of output,
geographical location and land available.
The parabolic troughs are being
controlled by a special tracking system. Compared to static solar
receivers, the parabolic troughs continuously follow the sun's path
which ensures the full exploitation of the sun from sunrise to
sunset. Tracking the sun gives a higher and more even output during
the entire day.
The CSP module solution is
either a parabolic trough system or a solar tower
system. The choice of system depends on the specific
requirements of each customer.
